The inspiration for this Foundation and its work came from the courage and determination of Karen Larlee Grant, who at the age of 15 overcame overwhelming odds by climbing Mt. Katahdin, the highest peak in Maine, despite having cystic fibrosis. This one triumphant act typified the way she lived a life fraught with illness. Since her death in 1984 from cystic fibrosis, Karen's life, as memorialized in both story and song, has been an inspiration to many people.
Included here are details of what we do, including community services provided, financial details, information on cystic fibrosis, and references to some useful Cystic Fibrosis Resources on the Internet. Also included are several cases and letters from people who have benefited from Karen's legacy.
You may want to find out more about who we are. In this section you will find specifics about our mission and guiding principles. We hope you will take the time to meet our Board of Directors. In a letter, the President of the Foundation summarizes the accomplishments of our organization.
We can use your help. Many opportunities for Sponsorships are available, from Annual Sponsor to Table purchase at the Annual Benefit Concert and Silent Auction.
